”Open a bottle of Doja Prokupac and realize – there is everything you need to know about Prokupac.” – Doja
Located on Jastrebac Mountain in Serbia’s Toplica Region, Vinarija Doja – family owned and operated by Goran and Slavica Todić – has a history of winegrowing and winemaking that dates back to 1895.
Its vineyards are planted to both international and indigenous varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Tamjanika, Prokupac, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. Doja’s Prokupac is the first from Serbia to win the Balkans International Wine Competition (BIWC) trophy for best red wine from this native variety in the Balkans.
Doja Prokupac 2019, Toplica, Serbia
An award-winning taste of Serbian history
Doja's Prokupac – a native variety that dates back to at least the 14th century – is Serbia's first BIWC trophy-winning red – and you get to taste why. It's the perfect trifecta of rich, ripe black fruits, minerality, and gentle oak space from 9 months of barrel aging. Pair this elegant red with comfort foods like roasted poultry, grilled lamb or pork, and a side of potatoes.
