Founded by the Aleksić sisters Dragana, Maja and Marija in 2006, this award-winning winery in the Vrtogoski Region helped put Southern Serbia on the wine map. Aleksić leases 70 hectares of vineyards – 60 of which are planted to vine – where they grow Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Tamjanika, Prokupac, Morava, Smederevka, and Muscat Hamburg. From these grapes Aleksić makes wines at all price points in a variety of styles.
Vinarija Aleksić Amanet Vranac 2019, Vranje, Serbia
Rich, ripe, and robust – the trifecta
This full-bodied Vranac is replete with intense, rustic flavors like juicy blackcurrants, wild blackberries and a sprinkling of savory spice – combined with a textured palate and long, luxurious finish. A wine this hearty calls for dishes like marbled ribeye, grilled lamb, roasted pork, smoked meats (ham, prosciutto) – plus a variety of hard, aged cheeses.
