Thanks to his victory over the Turks at Zenta in 1697, Prince Eugene of Savoy was granted property located between the Danube and Drava Rivers in what is known today as Baranja (Baranya in Hungarian) – a region in both Croatia and and Hungary – whose name in Hungarian means means 'the mother of wine.’
