Beth's Smart Sip – St. Donát Olaszrizling Slikker Balatonfüred-Csopak 2022

Salty, sleek, succulent, sumptuous – this is one slick sip of Slikker

From the red sandstone soil of single old-vine vineyard in Hungary’s Balatonfüred-Csopak region – Slikker – comes winemaker Tamás Kovács’ organically farmed Olazsrizling.

After a short period of skin contact, the wine is fermented and aged on the lees for 6 months in stainless steel, then bottled unfiltered and unfined. The result is an layered, complex Olazsrizling that it all at once fruity, minerally, nutty, spicy, and creamy. A plethora of aromas and flavors like crisp apple, zesty citrus, juicy quince, and ripe peach – coupled with raw almond and a dash of salt and spice – leap from the glass. This is a wine that will pair nicely with a variety of foods – grilled and roasted fish, poultry, pork, and root vegetables.
