Press Release by PINK DAY
English Version by Elizabeth Smith
PINK DAY Zagreb – founded by festival director Sanja Muzaferija – is more robust than ever before. For the fourth consecutive year, Zrinka Jelić-Belinić of Z-Events & Promotion, will manage event communication and promotion. PINK DAY Zagreb is the third largest wine festival in Croatia after Vinistra and VinoCom. It has significantly changed the wine list/image of Croatia and helped to reaffirm the quality of rosé wines and moderate alcohol consumption.
As before, PINK DAY celebrates still rosé wines and sparkling wines, extra virgin olive oils, rosé cocktails and amber wines, spring, hope for better days, a world without war, flowers, femininity, beauty, happiness and a positive atmosphere. It is PINK DAY’s traditional attempt to look at life through rose-colored glasses.
PINK DAY has been declared the most beautiful festival in Croatia and beyond several times. But every year – and especially this year – the emphasis at PINK DAY is international. After Austria and Hungary joined last year, this will be the third year PINK DAY Zagreb has official international participation and cooperation.
The day of the press conference, Thursday, April 3, Muzaferija announced this year’s partner country is Italy. Attending the press conference was of the Ambassador of Italy to Croatia, His Excellency Paolo Trichilo, General Director of the Italian-Croatian Chamber of Commerce; Dottoressa Andrea Perkov; and the President of the Italian-Croatian Chamber of Commerce Dr. Aldo Di Biagio. The Chamber is dedicated to working with Italian investors. Trade between Italy and Croatia has recorded historic results of over €8 billion in goods and is the first Italian trading partner of Croatia.
Numerous exhibitors (around 60 producers) and the day of the press conference April 3, PINK DAY announced the tasting of around 200 labels of rosé wines from Croatia, Italy, France, Austria, Hungary, and Slovenia. Another important part of the festival is Green in Pink – powered by the Croatia National Tourist Board – is the participation of Croatia’s best extra virgin olive oil producers. For the fourth consecutive year, PINK DAY will host Pink Mixology: pink gins, tonics, liqueurs, and cocktails. There will also be seven workshops and masterclasses as well as important roundtable on climate change made possible by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce.
At the press conference, attendees tasted La Belle rosé, the sparkling wine of Vina Belje, a rosé cuvée from one of Croatia’s greatest producers – declared the best winery from Croatia – according to the assessments of expert evaluators at the two largest wine competitions in Germany: Mundus Vini – Spring Tasting, and the Berliner Wine Trophy, where Belje won 11 medals and five medals respectively. Vina Belje’s female leadership attended the press conference: Liljana Vajda Mlinak, Head of Corporate Communications; Suzana Zovko, Director of Vina Belje; and Marijana Škiljo, Chief Oenologist.
The attendees also tasted a masterful gelato – Hyggis – which PINK DAY chose for its official Croatian premiere. Fine snacks included those by the gluten-free brand, KATA.
